The PMO oversees projects which have a high strategic importance to the organisation, with varying degrees of complexity, and organisational impact. The PMO Assurance Analyst plays an important role in building and supporting excellence in project management at ASQ by ensuring project governance, delivery and reporting is in line with the established objectives and standards.
The role will also include performing assurance and support activities to contribute to the successful planning and delivery of projects, including project health checks, risk and issue management, stage gate reviews, reporting, and ensuring project control metrics are within agreed tolerances.
As a project management expert, the PMO Assurance Analyst will assist with conducting and documenting lessons learned workshops, maintain the central lessons learned register, and provide recommendations to enhance project methodology and PMO processes.
Role Responsibilities
- Work within the agreed Project Management Framework (PMF) and templates to achieve project outcomes.
- Provide support and contribute to the development and adoption of project frameworks and governance.
- Develop and enhance frameworks for project assurance including stage gate reviews and reporting to be incorporated in the PMF.
- Carry out project assurance reviews and health checks, including measurement and reporting of agreed project controls and tolerances.
- Support project stage gate submissions to project governance groups and executives.
- Collaborate with SMEs, vendors, and key stakeholders to understand and plan assurance activities for projects based on complexity and risk profiles.
- Establish performance outcomes and measures for key project goals and define monitoring, status reporting and communication requirements.
- Monitor progress; identify issues and complete regular progress reports to stakeholders.
- Identify and manage risk, issues, and opportunities across the project portfolio; apply mitigation/realisation strategies to minimise impact and consequences.
- Guide, support, coach, and mentor team members on project assurance requirements, reporting and governance.
- Develop and enhance frameworks for project benefits management to be incorporated in the PMF.
- Analyse and develop benefit profiles to support business case development and to track and monitor project benefits against targets, in conjunction with key business owners.

What you will bring to the role
- Minimum 5 years’ experience using project management methodologies, tools, and practices
- Experience within a PMO, and use of PMO principles and frameworks required for successful project management
- Demonstrated experience leading project assurance, project prioritisation, and benefits management
- Experience in business case development, developing plans, schedules, budgets, scope, managing issues & risks and monitoring & reporting progress.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies and techniques i.e., PMBOK, Prince2, Agile
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the confidence to relate effectively to a broad range of stakeholders and service delivery partners
- Highly developed facilitation and presentation skills with a well-developed ability to articulate complex concepts and put forward compelling arguments and rationales
- Advanced level use of Microsoft Suite and Project Management tools i.e., MS Project
