The Opportunity:
As an Agricultural Economist at the PO3 level, you'll play a pivotal role in evaluating and implementing new technologies and management practices to enhance profitability and sustainability in the grazing industry. Operating from within the Rural Economic Development team, you'll work on a variety of projects targeting improved profitability and sustainability for the Queensland grazing industry. This contract role offers:
- Choice of location your location - Mareeba or Rockhampton locations on offer;
- Work-life balance with Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week (full-time);
- Competitive contract remuneration - equivalent P03 level of $61.49/hr plus Super; and
- Career progression opportunities - experienced professionals or graduates are welcome to apply!
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake economic analyses using appropriate methodologies;
- Provide training to graziers and beef extension officers on economic decision support tools;
- Visit producers to gather information and develop scenarios for farm profitability;
- Utilise economic findings to prepare case studies, reports, and communication material;
- Present economic findings to farmers at workshops, field days, and one-on-one sessions;
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders;
Highly Desirable Qualifications:
Applied experience in agriculture and/or a passion to advance the agricultural sector
- Commitment to the full term of Engagement;
- Mareeba role: ASAP to 4 February 2025 (with possibility of extension)
- Rockhampton role: ASAP to 30 June 2025 (with possibility of extension)
