Job description

The Western Australia Police Force are seeking a pool of successful applicants to make a big difference to the community as a Police Auxiliary Officer (Band 2) in the field of Telecommunications Interception and Administration.
This is a pool recruitment process (Ref 00944) and will be used to fill ongoing vacancies for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of initial appointment. There are currently 2 x Permanent Full time vacancies available.
These Police Auxiliary Officer roles are shift work positions in accordance with the relevant industrial agreement provisions.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
As a Police Auxiliary Officer (Interception) you'll be trained to play a crucial support role to Police Officers. While you won’t have full policing powers, it’s the ideal way to gain invaluable insights and make a real contribution to the community.
You will contribute to the prevention of crime and detection of suspects by gathering information by covert means including through telecommunications interceptions. You will also assist in facilitating and provisioning the lawful interception of telecommunications, including compliant record keeping and evidence preparation with due consideration to the strict legal and ethical requirements of the relevant acts governing intercepted information.
APPLICATION PROCESS

Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills and experience relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.
CV’s are to be: no more than four (4) A4 pages and use Arial 12 font. The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work-Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.
  • In addition to completing the attached application form and CV, applicants are asked to address the following work-related (as per the Position Description) question, ‘Describe a situation, in which you have used your judgement and initiative, to achieve an outcome.’
Responses are to be no more than one (1) A4 page; use Arial 12 font; and in the format of Situation, Action, Outcome (SAO).
Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work-Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.
SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE/S
Applicants are required to:
  • Be an Australian Citizen prior to the completion of the selection process;
  • Undertake a psychological assessment to determine your suitability, and as an incumbent agree to undergo periodical psychological assessments, as required; and
  • Obtain and maintain a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position.
  • Successful Applicants who are being considered for a position will be required to undertake: a Final Health Assessment; a Visual Acuity Assessment; and provide reference samples of Fingerprints and DNA.
OTHER CONDITIONS
This POOL is being created to fill future vacancies that may arise within the Special Operations Application Unit of the Crime Support & Services Division. This POOL will remain active for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial appointment. Applicants who are assessed as suitable at the completion of this process will be placed in the POOL and will be considered for future permanent and temporary vacancies as they become available.
On the job training will be provided along with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
As outlined in the application form, integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicants for these positions are not current WA Police Force employees.
Any relocation costs associated with appointment to this position will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
