The Policy Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of a range of policies.

Your new role 

Working with the Regulatory Services Manager and the Regulatory Services Operations Lead, the Regulatory Services Policy Officer is responsible for development and implementation of a range of policies, programs and services that contribute to the delivery of the City of Palmerston Community Plan, including:

  • By-law review, consultation and update.
  • Animal Management policy framework development and implementation.

What you'll need to succeed 

  • Relevant qualifications or currently undertaking qualifications in law, public policy, education, conservation or other related fields and disciplines.
  • Demonstrated policy research, strategic thinking and analytical skills and experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of government policy, preferably in a related field.
  • Proven program and project management experience, including budget management.
  • The ability to interpret, adhere to and regulate relevant Northern Territory Government and Council legislation and policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to liaise with a wide cross-section of people and manage business correspondence.
  • Proven ability for accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure, according to complex policy and procedures.
  • Comprehensive research, interpretation and critical analysis skills
  • Ability to successfully coordinate, advocate and negotiate with key stakeholders, establish and maintain strong and broad stakeholder relationships
  • Sound knowledge of the operations of local governments and the functions of Regulatory Services and an interest in government and political processes
  • A positive attitude and commitment to delivering quality customer service
  • A clear understanding of the role that Work, Health and Safety plays within the workplace coupled with a willingness to commit and adhere to Work, Health and Safety practices and policies

What you'll get in return 

- $50 Per Hour plus casual loading

- 6 month Assignment
