Role Title: Policy Officer
Duration: ASAP - 30/06/2024
Rate: $73.82 per hour + Super
Location: Sydney, hybrid WFH
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading NSW Government Agency as a Policy Officer!
Key Accountabilities:
- Contribute to reviews and the development of effective policy and legislative and regulatory reforms.
- Analyse policy issues, think creatively, and research solutions which will contribute to the achievement of effective policy design.
- Prepare advice, discussion papers, briefs and submissions based on appropriate factual evidence and research, to contribute to the development of policies and advice.
- Undertake qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to support policy development; scan the external operating context and the values and interests of customers and stakeholders.
- Coordinate working groups, committees and stakeholder consultation to support stakeholder engagement in policy development.
Key Challenges:
- Understanding effective policy development and stakeholder engagement methods and the processes of Cabinet and Parliament.
- Developing an understanding of the complexities of inter-agency and inter-governmental processes and policy development.
- Operating flexibly and being adaptable to move across policy project teams.
Essential Experience:
- Requires strong conceptual and analytical skills in a public policy context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience managing multiple stakeholders.
- Maintain high level written communication, including on complex policy issues.
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.
- NSW Government experience is highly regarded
