POSITION: Station Hands
LOCATION: Cape York
START DATE: Late June early July
COMPLETION DATE: Approximately November
Bush Recruitment is currently recruiting 2 experienced male Station Hands to work on a cattle station in Cape York. In this role the successful applicants will need to have experience in moving cattle on 4-wheel bikes adhering to low stress stack handling techniques. You will be doing yard work involving drafting, vaccinating, and branding. There is some fencing jobs to be done on this station. Some bore work and equipping troughs will be done at the end of the cattle work.
REQUIREMENTS:
– Experience in mustering and handling cattle on 4-wheel bikes
– Knowledge of low stress stock handling techniques
– Ability to work in a remote location
– Strong communication and teamwork skills
– Experience with drafting, vaccinating, and branding cattle
– Some fencing experience preferred
– Must be available to start in late June or early July
– Must have a valid driver’s license
– One recruit will need an MR license
RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Mustering and handling cattle on 4-wheel bikes
– Use of low stress stock handling techniques
– Yard work including drafting, vaccinating, and branding
– Fencing tasks as needed
– General station maintenance and upkeep
– Working closely with other Station Hands and following instructions from station manager
– Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures
– Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
