The Opportunity
The Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner is responsible for leading, developing, evaluating and implementing Positive Behaviour Support plans in conjunction with relevant legislation and client goals, building relationships with key stakeholders and participating as a member of the Thrive House team.
You will be responsible for monitoring staff training and professional development including the identification of training needs and establishing an ongoing program of training and professional development as required regarding the implementation of PBSP’s.
Please note: You must be assessed as being suitable to provide Positive Behaviour Supports and have received a suitable outcome in writing from the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
Key Duties
- Critically examine and improve work practices within the designated programs and lead change and quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop, write and implement Positive Behaviour Support plans
- Develop and review program operating procedures and policies
- Ensure statistics and relevant records are maintained
- Participation in forums/networks in relation to our service users
- Ensure compliance with WH&S policies and procedures

Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Allied Health, Human Services, or Social and Behavioural sciences.
- Must be a registered NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner.
- Professional experience relevant to service provision for personals living with a disability, their families and key stakeholders.
- Experience and knowledge of challenging behaviours, intellectual disability and trauma
- Well-developed knowledge of person-centred approaches
- Experience in the discipline of service provision
- Current Positive Notice (Blue Card) for Child Related Employment issued by The Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian
- Eligibility to gain a successful suitability check through the Department of Communities (Child Safety Services) (LCS-2)
- Current working with disabilities (yellow card) check as required
- Vaccination against COVID (2 doses), Influenza and Hepatitis A is recommended.
