Base Salary Level A $105,350 p.a. - $112,462 p.a. + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate who will work in a team on a large Australian Research Council Laureate project entitled: A Calculable Approach to Securing Australian’s Soils. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of . The candidate will devise a scalable diagnostic system that allows quantification and relative assessment of the biophysical and economic dimensions of the security of soils: the production and natural capital that the soil provides in their current state. Using tools from the field of environmental and spatial econometrics and pedometrics, the candidate will leverage soil and spatial data collected from the past 20 years to develop pedological and economical spatio-temporal models that make it possible to better understand the role of soil in delivering ecosystem and soil services related to capital.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
undertake research in securing Australian soils
publish research papers
demonstrate research excellence
assist with grant writing and publishing original work
participate in international fora
support teaching activities and the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.

About you

a PhD (or near completion) in Soil science, geography, or economics, or a related topic with a strong background and skills in spatial analysis, applied statistics, and pedometrics
experience with modelling of ecosystem services would be advantageous
the ability and willingness to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to contribute to long-term research goals
excellent communication (written and verbal), organisational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
a strong track record of publishing their research.
