Job description

Our client is an industry-leading poultry processing facility with sophisticated operations located in Sassafras, Tasmania. They are currently looking for 20 Poultry Processors to join their facility, starting on or around 15th April 2024.
You will be paid under the Poultry Processing Award - level 1 above award rate at $29.75 per hour, and a seasonal contract an average minimum of 30 hours per week for a duration up to 9 months.
The Role
You are required to work in a poultry facility where the smell of livestock is present. Not afraid of getting your hands dirty, you will be comfortable working with live and deceased birds; all animals must be handled gently and compassionately. You will be a team player who is physically fit and more than able to handle heavy lifting.
Key Responsibilities
• Rehanging birds
• Manual Evisceration and/or checking on automated evisceration.
• Grading and packing whole birds or portions into packaging such as bags, bulk bags or tray packs.
• Creating value added products.
• Manual handling of product
• Limited paperwork
• Ensure that the work performed meets quality standards
• Encourage positive actions and behaviors within your department
• Meet benchmarks for tasks undertaken.
• Contribute to a solutions focused, positive culture within your department
• Ensure you are complying with company standard operating procedures, policies and induction information.
• Notifying Supervisor if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe performing work as requested.
• Participate in the investigation of incidents occurring in your department where required.
Key Skills & Experience

• Good communication skills
• Commitment to enhance skills in QA
• Must be compliant with safety standards in all aspects of work
• Be able to approach challenging situations with a positive attitude to find solutions
• Good knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety
• No asthma or dust allergies
• Physically fit and comfortable in carrying out labour intensive duties
• A team player and happy working with a multicultural team
• On-site job training is provided with opportunities for upskilling.
