Job description

If you had a bit more budget to spend to buy better test and prototype equipment, how would your job change?

Short term you’d have a bit of fun learning to use new tools and equipment.

The real benefit is in the long term though. You’d design better products. Products you wouldn’t have to keep going back to the drawing board on because you didn’t have the right test facilities. Products you’re proud to put your name against.

That’s what you’d get here.

A bit about the tech and job…

You’d design, prototype, validate and manufacture new DC power distribution and regulator products. They’d be used in a largely unregulated industry that is growing so you’d have a lot of creative freedom allowing you to try new things and innovate.

A bit about the industry…

Most off-the-shelf components aren’t suitable. They’re cheap components that struggle with the complexity of the end product that needs power sent to motors, cameras, sensors and ECU’s.

There’s an opportunity for you to help create something more modular and customisable at a higher price point. That gives you a lot more scope and flexibility when it comes to R&D. Hence, you'll have access whatever tools and equipment you need to test and prototype new designs.

A bit about the job and company…

You’d join a growing, profitable business employing ~ 30 people. Their value proposition is producing the best products in the market which is validated by customers who are asking them to do more for them.

The business was built by engineers, for engineers. So whilst the work is technically stimulating and challenging, the mantra is to get your 8 hours done and down tools. You’ll also have flexible hours and the option to work from home when you need to.

You’ll report to the Hardware Lead, he’ll help set technical direction but give you scope to build. Your work won’t be overly prescribed, which means you’ll deal with a level of ambiguity. You’ll need to be either a good mid-career or Senior Electrical Engineer to handle the level of autonomy.

About you…

As a minimum, you’ll need to be experienced with high power density, low voltage DC-DC SMPS design and practical experience with PCB design using Altium. If you’ve been doing that in a regulated industry with high-medium production volumes like automotive, aerospace or medical it would be a huge advantage.
