Practice LeadEnterprise Protective Security ( EPS ) 

We are trusted advisors in providing security risk assessments, evidence based security and risk advice and Protective Security education, all in line with the Commonwealth’s Protective Security Policy Framework and the Security of Critical Infrastructure ( SOCI ) Act 2018. 

Due to our pipeline of work we are looking to hire a Practice Lead for our EPS team. Based out of our Canberra office, this role will see the incumbent reporting to the Senior Director Consulting and will form part of Providence’s Senior Management Team (SMT). You will be responsible for team leadership, supporting strategy for clients and campaigns to achieve business outcomes and planning and executing strategic updates, critical to achieving the company vision and mission. 

Leading a team of Protective Security and SOCI ( Security of Critical Infrastructure ) experts, this position will be ideal for a Senior Manager or Principal Consultant seeking to manage and build a team. You may also be someone looking to take the next step and move into a Practice Lead role. 

Job Description:

People, Culture and leadership

  • Uphold and promote the Providence values in the execution of all aspects of your role
  • Build and foster collaborative supportive relationships with adjacent managers and Head Office staff
  • Lead and support the EPS practice staff in a manner that balances autonomy, oversight and their development 

Delivery and Business Development: 

  • Proactive and responsive to clients and prospective clients
  • Transition new clients smoothly and successfully to the mobilisation teams
  • Assist and explain when difficulties arise to ensure complaints are followed up and delivering satisfactory solutions are obtained for both the customer and Providence 
  • Build the EPS practice through the identification of market trends, competitive landscapes and opportunities for your service offerings

Organisation

  • Help deliver a profitable business unit ensuring commercial decisions are made in observance of budget parameters, cost modelling, utilisation, policy, delegations and risk appetite
  • Participation in broader consulting team, leadership development and mentoring others
  • Maturing the EPS Community of Practice and leading ( when assigned ) company initiatives
  • Work closely with all parts of the business, sharing knowledge, discussing ideas, and helping Delivery BU's achieve targets

About you: 

Your skills and experience:

  • A good human being;
  • Experience in managing and developing a practice/business unit in a management consulting environment, preferably in the Defence & National Security sector;
  • Prior consulting experience within a Protective Security and/or SOCI environment.
  • Strong understanding of the Commonwealth Protective Security Police Framework and the SOCI Act 2018.
  • Developed network across CoA entities, Dept of Defence, Defence industry, academia and the private sector
  • Proven ability in targeting new business opportunities; a confident negotiator with proven ability to close the deal;
  • A positive and determined approach to researching and analysing new business opportunities; ability to execute against strategic planning
  • Relationships with decision makers in sectors and industries of interest to Providence
  • Ability to generate ideas and solutions; self-motivated and results driven;
  • Excellent relationship management skills; team player; innovative; 
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills; attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Exemplary communication skills – written and verbal
  • As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain a NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1) clearance.
