About the Role

The Medical Receptionist, also known as the Practice Relief Officer, is a versatile role that bridges the responsibilities of a front desk receptionist and a Personal Assistant (PA) to surgeons. This position operates within our Orthopaedic clinic and requires proficiency in both medical reception duties and PA tasks. Reporting directly to the Reception Team Leader, this mid-senior level role offers an opportunity for varied and challenging work experiences.

Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as our patients' first point of contact through phone, e-mail, and in person.
  • Liaising with internal and external practitioners, other sportsmed teams, clinics, hospitals, government agencies, health funds, insurance groups and other groups as required.
  • Quoting for and booking surgical procedures.
  • Preparing consult billing and receipting accurately, handling account enquiries and cash balancing.
  • Managing surgeon's travel and accommodation bookings as required.

About You

You are naturally gifted as a communicator, excelling in managing stakeholders and ability to tackle complex tasks in fast passed environments. Your collaborative and consultative approach makes you a valuable team player, and you find joy in tackling problem-solving challenges.

Essential skills and qualities include:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced medical reception/administration role - Must have.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel at basic level
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to short deadlines.
  • Ability to remain focused and productive in a busy, open-plan working environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Valid working with children check (WWCC) or willing to apply
