Job description

At Lives Lived Well, we’ve been treating and supporting people whose lives are affected by alcohol and other drugs for over 50 years. We also support people with mental health and gambling concerns and those transitioning from correctional centres. We’re growing fast and building a reputation as a trusted, innovative provider, focused on clinical excellence… and we’d love you to be part of it.

Are you ready to join us and help make a difference where it matters most?

 What Rocky has on offer?

A regional city of around 80,000 people, ‘Rocky’ offers the benefits of affordable country living with all the advantages of city life. It’s just a 30-minute drive to beachside Yeppoon and an easy commute to work. Join us at our Rockhampton Residential Service.

Ready to inspire change with us?

We currently have an opportunity available for a part-time (4 days per week) Pre & Post (Intake) Worker to join our service.

In this role, you will undertake a range of client assessments, and link clients with support services to proactively assist and support them with entry and exit into suitable residential treatments. You will receive support from an experienced team and your Team Leader.

You’ll know that you’re leaving a positive wake when you:

  • Provide high quality engagement, assessment, counselling, and support services to clients, using evidence-based practice principles.
  • Provide recommendation for entry to Rockhampton Residential based on the results of assessment, screening, and risk assessments (e.g., suicide risk, withdrawal risk).
  • Actively support client readiness to support successful attendance and completion of residential treatment.
  • Provide a thorough first day introduction to help new Residents settle in, greeting residents and significant other to orient them to the service, work through all entry paperwork, connect them with administration for rental payments, orientation to the facility, linking in with a buddy.
  • Develop, facilitate, and evaluate therapeutic group programs aimed at achieving client readiness for entering AOD residential treatment and building client capacity and confidence in exit from residential treatment.

This is a maximum term part-time position until 30th June 2024 (with possibility of extension). The base hourly rate ranges from gross $47.50 to $49.65 per hour, depending on your skills, knowledge, and experience.

In this role you will be working Monday to Thursday each week.

What do you need to apply?

About you

You will play a key role as the first point of contact for supporting people in crisis time. Hence the role requires someone with a calm and empathetic approach and the ability to work autonomously.

You will also possess the following skills and experience:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant human services discipline with additional AOD qualifications desirable but not essential and or demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  2. Applied knowledge in AOD counselling practice, case management, intake, and assessment.
  3. Highly developed communication and community engagement skills.
  4. Local area knowledge, especially of community service agencies and programs is desirable.
  5. Experience in residential treatment service delivery with a sound knowledge of the potential risk elements specific to this type of environment is desirable.

If you are a recent graduate, we encourage you to apply!

What matters most is that you’ll live and breathe our values, which means:

  • You are humble, human, and full of hope.
  • You show up and share.
  • You ask: Why not? And what’s next?
  • You leave a positive wake.

Why? We believe that through these values, we do our best work - for each other, for clients, and for the communities we work in. And it’s a promise we make to you about the kind of experience you will have working for us.

And while you support others, we’ll support you with some great benefits, including:

  • Extra leave paid leave days per year to support your wellbeing and work-life balance.
  • Salary packaging to increase your take-home pay
  • Meal entertainment benefit of $2,650
  • Regular clinical supervision, case conferencing and debriefings.
  • Flexibility in your work days (have a long weekend every week!)
  • Wellspring Discounts, saving on everyday items such as groceries, petrol, clothing, and leisure activities through Wellspring discounts and rewards.
