Full-time Position (38 hours per week)
Salary $68k to $70k overtime available
ABOUT US
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established shipbuilding company. Our shipyard has several large workshops, an abrasive blasting shed and a large tonnage slipway. We work on ships, ferries, barges, boats, yachts and pontoons.
THE JOB
As a Pressure Welder, you will undertake fabrication, construction and maintenance of ships and other marine constructions, working on both new builds and existing vessels.
JOB TASKS
Read and interpret plans
- Weld and repair pressure vessels
- Weld pipes to relevant standards
- Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using both hand and machine tools by heating and hammering
- Fabrication and installation of pipe spooling, chutes, hoppers, tanks, walkways and gangways
- Work on structural items to various codes fabrication
- Troubleshoot and undertake repairs
- Use welding tools and processes such as MMA, MIG and Flux Core
- Operate equipment safely and according to OH&S requirements
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
At least three years of full time work experience in vessel construction and repair
- Experience working on both aluminum and steel vessels
- Able to work in a team and meet deadlines
- Punctual and reliable
- Experience working at heights
- Holder of Confined Spaces certificate (or be willing to obtain one prior to or shortly after employment)
