Irfan College is a co-educational independent Islamic school located in the Southwest Sydney suburb of Cecil Park. The College was established in 2013 and is a single-stream school servicing Kindergarten to Year 12 students.
Irfan College aspires to bring 'a breath of fresh air' to the sector through numerous authentic projects such as the Islamic Integration project which aims to integrate the Islamic Worldview into pedagogical practices and the Australian Curriculum.

Irfan College is seeking a Primary Coordinator willing to contribute to the vision and ethos of our school and become an active agent in the service of the next generation of Australian Muslims.
Position:The commencement of the position is for Term 2, 2024. This is a full-time equivalent role. The Primary Coordinator (PC) will report directly to the Deputy Principal. As a member of the College Executive Management Team, the Primary Coordinator collaborates with and shares in the overall leadership and strategic management of the College.
Successful applicants will possess a sound understanding of the NSW Australian Curriculum, contemporary learning theory and the appropriate means of monitoring and assessing student and teacher achievement.
Responsibilities:Areas of immediate responsibility to the Primary Coordinator include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead Primary (K-6) curriculum to design, develop, articulate and commit to a shared Islamic educational vision in alignment with the current Australian Curriculum
- Leading K-6 teaching and learning.
- Managing Head of 3-6 teaching and learning staff.
- Assessments and academic reports.
- Student milestones and transitions.
- Staff professional learning and development.
- Policy & procedure development.
- Events.
- Hold relevant teaching qualifications and experience (i.e. Bachelor's Degree).
- Hold at least a Proficient teacher accreditation by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
- Has a valid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Demonstrate an understanding of child safety and legal obligations relating to child safety.
- Have a knowledge of and commitment to the vision and Islamic ethos of the school.
- A community mindset and skills to relate well to staff, students, parents and the broader community.
- Have demonstrated commitment to nurturing relationships, academic growth and community amongst students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to manage whole department implementation of key programs.
- Successful experience in leading a cohesive team and with well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to oversee staff within a team, as well as working alongside other staff in leadership positions to build the academic culture of a school.
- Experience and skills to support students of varying educational needs.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, able to mediate and resolve matters.
- Organisational and administrative skills.
- A willingness to teach.
- A willingness to contribute positively as part of a professional learning community.
