Job description

About the organisation

Good to Great Schools Australia (GGSA) partners with schools and school systems to support school improvement along a journey from Poor to Fair, Fair to Good and Good to Great.

GGSA is modern and innovative and we are well set up to support roles from being carried at home base

About the business unit

GGSA’s education model is based on the Domains of Childhood, Class, Club, Culture, Civics and Community. Within each domain is a series of programs. Each program has a student learning component, or ‘curriculum’, to support it. GGSA’s model programs are implemented in remote Queensland schools.

The team creates curriculum materials for each domain through a range of lessons, assessments, teacher guides and student worksheets. All units follow either explicit instruction (EI) or direct instruction (DI) pedagogical approach, or use a combination of both as required for each subject and program.

About the Role

The Curriculum Developer will own and coordinate the delivery of projects and follow the organisation's innovation model to deliver projects on time and in line with client expectations.

The major functions of this role are:

  • using the Australian Curriculum and GGSA research priorities to ascertain the content descriptors, elaborations and skills/concepts
  • drafting unit overviews, achievement standards, assessments and sequenced learning objectives
  • writing lessons, assessment books, teacher guides, student workbooks and additional learning resources using set templates
  • preparing resources for peer and leadership reviews, including action recommendations, entering updates in system, and improving writing to avoid the need for repetitive feedback on writing errors
  • adhering to the GGSA Weekly Work Cycle to deliver their weekly output as per the planned commitment
  • adhering to the curriculum framework, processes and systems and using the approved tools and templates
  • participating in improving practices, systems and tools to support the team's effectiveness and efficiency

Applicants must demonstrate experience in the following selection criteria:

Essential criteria

  • Minimum 5 years experience developing curriculum for Primary Schools and managing teams developing curriculum
  • Knowledge of Explicit Direct Instruction models
  • Strong writing skills in business cases, briefs and presentations;
  • Exceptional research, communication skills (oral and written), IT skills (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint), and strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to obtain a working with children check (QLD Blue Card); and
  • Ability to obtain a successful police check.

Desirable criteria

  • Willingness to occasionally travel away from base location to spend time visiting regional and remote areas of Australia;

How to Apply

Applicants need to submit a resume and an application letter that addresses the essential selection criteria above. GGSA does not consider applications who do not address the selection criteria.

If you are looking for the next stage of your career and have a desire to contribute to a not-for-profit organisation that supports Australian schools, we'd love to hear from you!
