Iona College is seeking a term-time Diverse Learning Teacher Aide for Semester Two 2024, with the possibility of extension or permanency. The Diverse Learning Teacher Aide will work with the Head of Diverse Learning, Primary and Diverse Learning team to provide classroom support for teachers by assisting students with high needs in the following areas: physical, intellectual, hearing, visual, speech and language and behavioural.
The Diverse Learning Teacher Aide delivers student support in a professional manner to effect academic engagement and sensitivity to the wellbeing of all students. It supports the strategic vision of the College which dares our young men to make a positive difference throughout their lives and the lives of others.
As the successful candidate, you will have a passion for education and will model, foster and promote excellence in teaching and learning. You will also share the Catholic values and ethos, including that of the Oblate Charism.
To be considered for this position you should have:
- Experience working with students who require adjustments to access and participate in their education on the same basis as their same aged peers
- Have a demonstrated commitment to Catholic education
- A high level of confidentiality, attention to detail and ethical practice.
- A passion for learning and an ability to build and maintain positive relationships in a school environment
- Ideally hold a Certificate IV in Education Support, similar qualification or relative experience
- ICT competencies conducive to supporting students with significant learning challenges
- Ability to relate to school age children with a proactive attitude towards student protection
- Current Working With Children Licence (Blue Card)
- Proven listening, negotiating and influencing skills.

This role is a level four (4) School Officer within the Catholic Employing Authorities Single Enterprise Collective Bargaining Agreement for Religious Institute Schools of Queensland. The Diverse Learning Teacher Aide is a part-time, term-time position. Hours of duty are Monday to Friday, with engagement in line with contractual hours between 8am and 3.15pm.
