About the role
As part of a multidisciplinary team, responsible for the design of MRL's approach to Health and Safety, the purpose of this role is to ensure systematic and disciplined systems and processes exist around the Health & Safety Management System, including but not limited to non-conformance, incident and action management, hazard identification and risk management, management of change and operational control (H&S Performance Standards). It also exists to provide Subject Matter Expert counsel to MinRes Employees and Contractors, including Health & Safety Professionals, Operational Leaders, Functional Partners and Health & Safety Representatives
This will include but not be limited to:
- Assist the Group Health & Safety Team with forward resource planning and implementation of operational incident and injury mitigation strategies, particularly monitoring and controlling industrial workplace risks.
- Coach and lead a team of Safety professionals to ensure a high standard of workplace health and safety service delivery and support is maintained
- Think innovatively and lead improvement programs, in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders, to improve the Health and Safety performance of our business.
- Develop a scalable approach to MinRes's operational Health and Safety initiatives across all business units, ensuring they align to evidence-based methodologies.
- Provide SME support relating to the investigation of serious incidents across the business.
- Coordinate the development and continuous improvement of Health and Safety policies and procedures where appropriate.
- Actively coach and mentor health and safety professionals and operational leaders across the business.
- Participate in industry and regulatory body workgroups and represent MRL
- Design systems and processes to provide governance over program delivery and quality management.
- Bachelor's degree or above in Health and Safety/Science/Engineering/Allied Health/equivalent
- Demonstrated knowledge of clinical governance, safety, and quality requirements
- Excellent leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Quality Improvement / Accreditation systems as applied to industrial and high-risk settings.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to manage medium sized projects and understand health and safety challenges in an industrial setting.
- Previous experience in the implementation/maintenance of a Group Health and Safety Management System.
