Job description

Our public sector client is seeking a safety advisor to be part of a dynamic, diverse and inclusive team that is committed to providing a high standard of service to support the department in achieving its objectives and outcomes for the Queensland Community. You will assist in a comprehensive WHS assurance review of the contract administration system for infrastructure projects, and assist to implement and embed updated contract administration processes.
You will provide comprehensive support to the Principal Advisor (WHS) and provide expert professional advice and services across the full range of operational health and safety functions, including psychosocial safety. Your role will also include travel to locations across Queensland's coastline.
Experience:
Academic qualifications in workplace health and safety, or other appropriate qualification from a recognised tertiary institution will be highly regarded.
Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation and departmental policies to provide sound guidance to others.
Proven experience within a role pertaining to WHS, applying expert knowledge of management systems to improve the business (including the review, analysis and development of management systems.
Valid Queensland ‘C’ class driver’s licence or equivalent.
The successful candidate must complete a Criminal History Check.
Key accountabilities include:
Develop stakeholder relationships to support objectives across a range of groups
Provide expert health and safety guidance in varying situations to staff
Mentor and coach staff in WHS tools and advice on projects
Assist in WHS assurance and contract processes
Ensure WHS compliance in project development
Contribute to the department's WHS initiatives
Support psychosocial risk management
Implement strategic WHS objectives
Administer safety documentation
Lead or assist in WHS investigations
Provide expert support for emergencies
Monitor Safety Assurance for compliance
Undertake travel as required, adhering to regulations
