About the OPPORTUNITY
As Principal Architect you will be responsible for providing leadership, design guidance and expertise required to positively influence informed business outcomes that align to strategy for proactively leading and supporting Enterprise Services Strategy and Architecture activities. Help define architecture blueprint and roadmap, develop solution architectures for initiatives, evaluate options, and provide guidance to engineering teams.
The role will also support innovation by monitoring emerging technologies/methods and championing those that will add value.
We are flexible with the location as this role can be performed from our Melbourne or Sydney or Adelaide offices.
More specifically, you will
- Be responsible to set the architectural direction for Enterprise Services technology landscape and manage through to delivery
- Be at the forefront of technology innovation and bring in relevant insights as part of setting the architectural direction for Enterprise Services
- Lead with collaboration, and foster a culture of inclusive partnership that delivers together with clear targets, ambition, dynamism and management pragmatism
- Collaborating with business stakeholders to understand business demands and drivers, elaborating these, assessing the impacts and implications for our existing technology portfolio and programs of work, and shaping a response
- Developing and maintaining a target state architecture for Enterprise Services and a roadmap to get there, considering organisational challenges and imperatives
- Partnering with other architects, analysts, engineers, and subject matter experts to ensure that the target state architecture is clearly communicated and understood and aligns with both business and technology strategic intents
- Presenting big picture or detailed architecture views and artefacts to a variety of stakeholders across business and technology teams
- Building relationships with key business and technology stakeholders and setting direction together and maintaining key Architecture artefacts, e.g. Architecture / Solution Overview
About YOU
- Demonstrated 6-8 yrs experience in leadership roles focusing on development of business strategy and capability development
- Prior experience at a senior level demonstrating strong commercial acumen and understanding of business value
- Experience in managing complex business projects, including management of staff
- Demonstrated ability to articulate the vision and influence change by demonstrating a realistic technology value proposition to the business
- Proven knowledge and experience in architecture and design method and practice Experience with establishing and managing Enterprise (Business, Information Application, Technology) practices
- Application development leveraging cloud-native technologies, ideally Azure IaaS/PaaS
- Experience in analysing and modelling large, complex domains and associated service design
- Experience in distributed (micro) service-oriented architecture, as well as refactoring monoliths into modular services
- Experience in the architecture and design of event-driven systems, different methods of service and system integration (APIs, streams, etc), and related concerns such as orchestration
- Experience architecting digital platforms for customers and employees, including UI and UX considerations
- Understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies and capability to support agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt
- Experience delivering presentations to senior-level executives and technical audiences
- Stakeholder engagement and exceptional presentation skills to senior-level executives
- Experience in demand and capacity management and resource forecasting
