Within the WorkSafe Group, the WorkSafe Industrial and Regional Industry Safety Directorate is responsible for Workplace Health and Safety legislation, inspections and noncompliance management in the agricultural, construction, transport, wholesale, manufacturing, regional and primary industries.

The role

The role of Principal Compliance and Investigations Officer supports the WorkSafe Industrial and Regional Industry Safety Directorate by undertaking verifications and leading investigations into complex and sensitive work health and safety authorisation breaches. WHS authorisations related to high-risk work licence assessors and holders are a key focus of this role.

As a Compliance and Investigations Officer you will be responsible for delivering specialised advice and writing complex reports and briefing notes. This role will also participate in relevant working groups providing input into the development of legislation, policy and systems around WHS authorisations.

A key to your success in this role will be your ability to use your industry experience and extensive knowledge and practical experience in the application of WHS legislation to effect industry reform.

This position will be based in Cannington with occasional travel in the Perth metropolitan area and may have some regional travel.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months.

You require a Diploma or higher-level Work, Health, and Safety qualification or equivalent relevant WHS experience to apply for this vacancy.

  • Demonstrated experience or extensive knowledge of verification of competencies/training/certifications related to WHS authorisation.
