  • Salary: AHP4 - $112,625 - $122,610 (p.a.)+ Superannuation & Salary Sacrifice Benefits

  • Part Time, Contracted Role working 15 hours per week up to 12 months

About the role

The Principal Occupational Therapist is a recognised clinical expert in Occupational Therapy practice and is responsible to for the clinical governance and leadership of Occupational Therapy services across Central Adelaide Mental Health Service.

To ensure best practice standards are achieved, the Principal Occupational Therapist works in partnership with key stakeholders on service development initiatives, facilitates profession-specific input into human resource processes, ensures compliance with the Clinical Supervision Policy and credentialing requirements, leads relevant quality improvement initiatives, ensures professional competency standards, and facilitates access to relevant professional training and clinical support activities.

The Principal Occupational Therapist also plays a leadership role as a member of the MHCP Senior Leadership Team, in applying National and State health reforms and in service quality and workforce development initiatives, working in partnership with key stakeholders. The Principal Occupational Therapist works in collaboration with the other Principal Discipline Leads, Service Managers and Nursing Directors on inter-professional initiatives, acts as a consultant and professional advisor on Occupational Therapy professional issues, and convenes or sits on internal and external committees.

The Principal Occupational Therapist consults about complex consumer issues, clinical performance of Occupational Therapists and is responsible for the clinical supervision and support of AHP3 Senior Occupational Therapists and other Occupational Therapists and designated staff across the MHCP. The Principal Occupational Therapist may be required to undertake a clinical caseload to support the functioning of the Service and achievement of quality patient outcomes.

Essential Requirements:

  • Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
  • Working With Children Check (DHS)
  • Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description. SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Educational/Vocational Qualifications

  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
