We provide a comprehensive range of environmental services to clients in the mining, energy, infrastructure, government and utilities sectors. We employ more than 75 professional environmental staff based out of offices in Perth and Margaret River.

The Team

Our Biodiversity team is high performing, innovative, supportive and quality focused. We have a driven team of botanists and zoologists who are complemented by our fantastic Project Coordinators. The Role

We are seeking a Principal Zoologist with 10+ years’ experience in Environmental consulting conducting fauna assessments and project management. This Principal Zoologist will work alongside our experienced and professional group of zoologists, providing leadership, coaching and mentorship. In this role you will work predominantly in the office with some field work. The successful applicant will ensure all services rendered by the team are of a high technical standard, with service delivery either meeting or exceeding client expectations. Our exceptional team of Scientists, Senior Scientists and Principals work across various scopes such as targeted species surveys, biodiversity monitoring and reporting, habitat condition assessments, and bio-acoustic and eco-acoustic monitoring. Applicants must have a strong focus on health and safety, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Working alongside the Biodiversity Manager, your required tasks will include:

  • Ensure work is carried out to a high standard, in line with work timeframes and in accordance with company guidelines. 
  • Provide leadership, guidance and assistance to all team members. 
  • Implement the company strategic and operational plan at a team level.
  • Undertake personnel management of direct report team members (Scientists and Senior Scientists) including objective setting, mentoring and monitoring performance and performance management.
  • Assist team manager with activities and business development tasks required to win and retain work. 
  • Manage the technical content and standard of service delivery including technical scoping and technical review of deliverables.
  • Work with management and clients to identify and manage project risks and issues.

Skills and Experience

The following skills/criteria are required to be suitable for this role:

  • 10+ years of experience in Environmental consulting conducting and leading Fauna surveys
  • A degree in Environmental Science or equivalent 
  • A strong focus on health and safety and understanding of standard HSE systems and processes in the resources sector
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking and organisational skills, combined with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team
  • Excellent scientific writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • An Australian C-class drivers licence (manual)

The following is desirable:

  • Post-graduate qualifications
  • Familiarity with GIS software (such as QGIS)
