Job description

The Office for Early Childhood Development (OECD) will coordinate the response to the recommendations of the Royal Commission for Early Childhood Education and Care (working across all tiers of government) and work across sectors to plan for and implement preschool for 3-year-olds and other recommendations relating to the first 1000 days. The Office serves as a steward, leading change and overseeing the South Australian early childhood development system.

The OECD is responsible for developing and implementing funding arrangements to facilitate access to preschool for 3- and 4-year-olds in South Australia in government and non-government settings. 

Working closely with the Director Funding Operations and Monitoring, the Principal Funding Officer will design and implement processes and systems to establish funding agreements, issue funding, and monitor and acquit funding utilisation and performance by services that are engaged to deliver preschool to 3- and 4-year-olds in South Australia.    

The position supports the Minister for Education and the Chief Executive, facilitates relevant stakeholder consultation and engagement, and delivers advice to the Minister and Chief Executive through timely, high quality briefings. 

The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN-EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
