Exciting New Role- Temporary, Full-time, Bowen Hills | Provide professional and expert technical expertise that enables the design and implementation of an effective Health and Safety management system for the Department of Health divisions.
The role
As the Principal Health and Safety Systems Advisor, you will embody Queensland public service values while overseeing the development, administration, and maintenance of the Divisional Safety Management System. Your primary role involves directing the creation of high-quality reports, briefs, and assurance plans for the Health, Safety, and Management committee, and providing expert advice on complex Health and Safety issues to key stakeholders.
Furthermore, you will analyse safety system performance, design and implement Health and Safety management plans, and lead the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Health and Safety-related information systems across the Department. Through effective communication and training initiatives, you will cultivate a workplace culture focused on continuous improvement, ensuring the achievement of outcomes within specified budgets and times.
The successful person
To excel in this position, you must possess advanced technical expertise and knowledge in WHS hazards, encompassing risk management, demonstrated through effective application within a large, client-focused, high-performing workforce spanning diverse demographics and geographic locations. Additionally, you should demonstrate proficiency in analysing, planning, and innovatively devising Health and Safety management systems tailored to the complexities of a geographically dispersed organization.
Moreover, you should exhibit exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, negotiation, and presentation skills, coupled with adept client relationship management abilities. This includes fostering robust internal and external stakeholder connections, along with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to driving cultural change and fostering a positive, inclusive work environment.
