About Legal Aid Queensland
Are you an experienced lawyer ready to take on a key position managing the delivery of legal services in the region. As Principal Lawyer - Crime, you will lead a busy team of legal and administrative staff to provide efficient and effective services to the community including legal information and advice and representation in criminal and civil cases, including duty lawyer services in the criminal and civil law courts and legal services to prisoners.
What you will do
- Manage and supervise a team of professional and administrative staff
- Lead, monitor and report on the operational performance of the team
- Supervise legal work and develop the skills of, train and guide staff within the team
- Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders
About you: The successful candidate will have
- Experience in delivering legal services and meeting organisational objectives whilst managing and supervising a team
- Extensive experience in the conduct of complex summary and indictable criminal law matters
- Detailed knowledge of the practice and procedure of criminal law
- Ability to present in a clear, concise and articulate manner and ability to communicate with clients with complex needs
