About Us:
Cleveland Education and Training Centre (CETC) is a school operating within the Cleveland Youth Detention Centre in Townsville. It caters for students, both male and female, who are either on remand or have been sentenced for criminal offences. CETC students transition back to their home communities across the state upon their exit from the centre. The school plays an important role in the community by providing opportunities for students to develop the skills, knowledge and values to enhance their capacity to pursue positive choices in the future.
CETC operates on a rotational staffing model to deliver a full education service to students over 48 weeks of the year.
While the holistic aim of all programs is to improve the life chances of students and to decrease recidivism, it is a high-priority goal to assist students to improve literacy and numeracy.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.

- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Active participants in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
