Karlka Recruiting Group has partnered with a State Government Agency to engage an Principal Planning Officer.This position is located in their busy Parramatta office for an initial contract until 31/03/2024.

About the Position
The Principal Planning Officer takes a lead role in the assessment and delivery of complex major statutory and strategic planning and key development projects within State significant sites to meet statutory obligations and policy objectives.

Duties

• Assess the merits of the more complex and contentious planning proposals quickly and effectively to ensure the assessment and delivery of projects within the relevant benchmark period.
• Produce high quality work on a wide range of planning matters, including the preparation of well written reports, strategic advice and effective conditions in Gateway determinations.
• Build and maintain effective relationships, and strengthen engagement with key stakeholders to provide information, respond to enquiries and resolve disputes effectively.
• Manage the delivery of competing statutory and strategic planning and project outcomes in a high pressure environment whilst managing the different and competing interests of various external agencies, stakeholder and community expectations.

Requirements/Skills

• Degree in planning, environmental management, engineering or other relevant discipline
• Demonstrated high level knowledge of relevant environmental assessment and planning legislation and processes
• Willingness to travel and (minimum) Class C Driver’s Licence
