What you will be doing
- Provide professional, authoritative and timely strategic advice to senior management on housing and homelessness policy issues of a complex nature.
- Collaborate with other jurisdictions, agencies and across the department to deliver on the Government's national and state policy commitments and reform agendas.
- Lead policy research, evaluation, analysis and coordination and providing advice on policy issues relevant to national and state reforms.
- Influence the development and coordination of national housing and homelessness policy design and direction, including contributing to national agreements.
- Support negotiation and consultation with a range of key stakeholders, including the Australian Government, other government agencies, and senior departmental staff to address housing and homelessness policy issues..
- Provide guidance on national research and data collections and publications for housing and homelessness services.
- Manage the formulation and preparation of proposals, recommendations, submissions and briefing papers of a complex nature.
- Demonstrate visible policy leadership, direction and focus.
- Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and a part of day to day operations.
What we are looking for
- Have proven research and analytical ability and demonstrated capability in gathering information and strategic thinking to advise on policy direction.
- Have superior written and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships, communicate, negotiate, influence, network and consult with stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and complete challenging tasks by managing conflicting priorities and managing tight deadlines.
- Successfully use research, analysis and critical judgement to provide high quality advice and inform decision-making on social policy issues.
- Demonstrate personal responsibility in meeting objectives, including the ability to proactively recognise and resolve issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.
