About the Role
The Think & Act Differently (TAD) Team is pursuing an operating model designed to increase the scale and speed while improving effectiveness across BHP's innovation efforts to Think & Act Differently. The Think & Act Differently Team has been configured to focus on the innovation value chain, with groups of team members focused on:

  • Ecosystem: The external ecosystem and our engagement with it to identify new partners for us to work with and new ideas to test.
  • Product: Product development to rapidly test and mature a portfolio of ideas into robust and scalable solutions that could make a big difference to our current business and tomorrow's resources.
  • Delivery: Innovation delivery, to deeply connect our innovation efforts with the needs of our customers in each operating Region, accelerating the deployment of successful new solutions.
We are focused on reimagining the mining value chain to deliver the critical minerals the world needs to facilitate the energy transition while delivering value today to our existing assets and operations.
We are looking for a Principal Innovation Operations with expertise in managing processes, systems, and governance to construct and amplify a diverse portfolio of innovation initiatives across several Programs. We seek a proactive, enthusiastic individual who can enhance our systematic approach to monitor portfolio performance and manage initiatives for the Product Development Team.
Reporting to the Manager Innovation Execution, your key responsibilities will include augmenting our innovation systems, processes, and governance to manage a comprehensive portfolio of innovation opportunities across the Product Development team. This ensures a balance in technology maturity, value chain areas and domains while aligning with BHP's strategic goals.
About You
As Principal Innovation Operations, you will provide strategic and operational support to the Think & Act Differently Team. The ideal candidate should be:
  • A self-starter adaptable to rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Highly energetic with strong motivation.
  • Proactive and resourceful, always seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Experienced in managing technology portfolios.
  • Experience in developing and standardising processes.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on process optimisation.
  • Possessing a continuous improvement mindset, looking for ways to improve our systems and processes.
  • Able to take initiative and work independently, maintaining high levels of productivity.
  • Experience in technology development, particularly across the mining value chain is preferred.
Job Responsibilities
You play a crucial role in operationalising the team through robust processes, systems, implementation, and facilitation of strategic decisions through comprehensive data analysis and performance monitoring. Your insights and project management support are key to driving successful outcomes across Think & Act Differently, supporting the Ecosystem, Product and Delivery Teams.
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience using PowerBI, MS Office (Excel), SAP, workflow automation, and portfolio management systems.
