About the Role

Working as an integrated member of the Western Australia Asset Projects team, the Principal will develop contract strategies, manage the tendering and award of contracts and excel at post contract management.
You may be required to support and mentor more junior team members and contribute to business improvement and other initiatives as appropriate to your field of influence and expertise.
Key Accountabilities
- Prepare and develops project contract procurement and contract strategies to drive optimum performance for project key drivers.
- Develop tenders using various contracting and delivery models.
- Draft contract schedules and negotiate contracts that are of moderate risk and complexity.
- Draft internal approvals for contract award.
- Provide contractual and commercial advice to internal stakeholders in relation to medium and/or high risk and complex contracts.
- Manage contractor performance by actively prosecuting contract terms and conditions and active negotiation of variations/claims and cost estimates.
- Resolve contractor or vendor contract queries in alignment with contract documentation to effectively mitigate cost exposure.
- Facilitate productive discussions during complex negotiations to achieve desired outcomes and meet stakeholders requirements.
- Mitigates people, community, human rights and modern slavery, environmental and climate risks across the value chain, in alignment with public policy and our sustainability and climate commitments.
- Apply an understanding of other countries' political, historical and cultural context to build partnerships, market expertise and achieve business outcomes within an international context.
Ideally, you will hold a tertiary qualification (quantity surveying, construction management, procurement, engineering, business, law are preferred) or similar with experience within the mining and minerals processing or energy industries, working for an operator or a contractor in these sectors with a track record in development and delivery of projects.
You will have the opportunity to utilise your advanced engagement and collaboration skills in managing stakeholder relationships. Likewise, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and a high standard of oral and written communication skills.

- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
