About the Role
The Principal Reliability Engineer leads the reliability program and is responsible for ensuring optimal Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS), maximizing asset lifecycles, and minimizing downtime through proactive interventions and data-driven decision-making. The Principal Reliability Engineer executes these responsibilities through a combination of direct efforts (including coaching and facilitation) and engagement of subject matter expert consultants.
Key duties include:
- Undertake research and set strategic direction for RAMS capabilities (e.g., methodologies, technical specifications, software tools, and training) within Fremantle Ports.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive RAMS strategy for the entire asset portfolio, aligned with business objectives and risk tolerance.
- Facilitate life cycle cost analysis to identify improvement opportunities, set budgets, and select between asset investment options.
- Develop maintenance strategies and provide guidance to implement the outputs into asset information systems.
- Manage and facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for chronic and acute issues.
Skills & Experience
- Engineering degree supplemented by post-graduate reliability/asset management qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in selecting, implementing and applying good practice Reliability Engineering methodologies
- Knowledge of port assets (wharfs, buildings, cargo handling machinery, rail) highly desirable
- Skills in a wide range of Reliability Engineering methodologies, such as:
- Reliability Block Diagram (RBD) modelling
- Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM)
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
- Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)
- Inventory Optimisation
- Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA)
