SalaryIn this role, you will provide the technical and project leadership for the Urban Design team. You will ensure the delivery of high quality design outcomes in the Northern and Western Geelong Growth Areas.
Work type: Temporary full time (12 months)
Classification: Band 8 ($115,035-$127,911 pa plus super)
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the development of Precinct Structure Plans in our growth areas.
- Help grow the urban design capacity and capability of the organisation.
- Research, develop and prepare strategies, guidelines, policies and urban design initiatives to support the delivery of a high-quality urban design.
- Provide visually compelling communication to enable diverse audiences to imagine and realise the future opportunities for a place, neighbourhood, precinct or a city.
- Assist in the preparation of feasibility, design, planning and other documentation, as required.
- Contribute to the management of projects to optimise time, cost and quality in their delivery.
- Provide Urban Design advice and guidance relating to a range of Council and other agency led.
- Attend and represent the City of Greater Geelong community and stakeholder forums and meetings.
To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism or a related built environment/design profession, and extensive relevant practical experience in urban design.
Essential Experience:
- Extensive experience in leading and managing the development and implementation of a range of urban design projects including major urban renewal, growth areas, structure planning, masterplanning, urban design frameworks, feasibility studies, and detailed urban design concepts for projects.
- Demonstrated experience in advising on the design of developments and regeneration projects.
- Demonstrated experience in growth area projects.
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to articulate issues and influence outcomes at a senior level.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant codes, guidelines and the Victorian Planning Scheme.
- Proficiency in MS Project, MS Office, AutoCAD, the Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp.
