Job description

Key Duties and AccountabilitiesLead operational teams and support organisational change by demonstrating exceptional leadership and commitment; inspire others and ensuring the highest standard of safety and conduct in accordance with the departments policies and guidelines.Demonstrate a high level of oral and written communication and consultation skills to negotiate and resolve complex issues with internal and external clients and stakeholders, and professionally represent the Department and its interests within the community and to other levels of government.Ensure all operations are performed in accordance with our Quality Management System (QMS) to maintain our accreditation under ISO 9001:2015; maintain documents, procedures, audits and Key Performance Indicators as outlined in QMS framework.Review the effectiveness of the North Region water monitoring programme and ensure it is fit for purpose. Identify needs and organise training of staff to appropriate standards in water assessment and monitoring techniques and methods.Develop, prioritise and manage project budgets, financial plans and service agreements across North Region projects, sharing responsibility for business goals, budget, resourcing and planning.Participate directly in the work of the team when needed, to ensure quality and timely outcomes as well as to train and mentor; maintain a supervisory and technical interest and contribution and provide timely and practical recommendations around business delivery and risk management

Role requirementsThere are no mandatory requirements for this role, however extensive experience in water monitoring and/or qualifications that relate to hydrography, as well as to groundwater and artesian monitoring will be highly regarded.Willingness to participate in fieldwork and strong aptitude for data management/analysis and associated systems.
Travel away from the centre will be required. This will involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods. This could also involve work where camping in remote areas may be required.The applicant must obtain Category 1 appointment as an Authorised Officer under the Water Act 2000.A 'C' class driver's licence
