Prison officers are essential to the operation of the prison and play a key part in the success of our prisoner rehabilitation programs.
Your work will be dynamic, and every day will be different. You will:

About you
If you’re a good communicator and enjoy achieving positive outcomes, then you have the qualities needed to become a prison officer.
Have you ever delivered great customer service, or planned a travel adventure, been a parent, or even volunteered your time? It's your life experience that counts in this job.
Whatever background you’re from – retail, hospitality, administration, construction, healthcare, manufacturing, or community services (to name a few) – your skills are highly valued in the public service sector.
What’s in it for you
- Earn up to $85,967 with a base salary of $59,825 plus penalty rates and overtime

There are If you're keen on a move to metro or country Victoria and are offered an ongoing role, you may be eligible for reimbursement of up to $10,000 to help with costs like travel, freight, temporary housing and storage. Talk to our recruitment team about how this support may apply to you.
New $5,000 sign-on bonus!New Prison Officers are now eligible for a bonus of up to $5,000. The incentive is designed to attract the best new Prison Officers and encourage you to explore all aspects of the role. Six months after commencing, you will receive a payment of $2,500. Then, after one year’s full-time employment, you will receive an additional payment of $2,500.
