Pro Vice-Chancellor, Business Creation and Major Facilities

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is renowned for its dynamic culture and excellence in research, teaching, and industry engagement. UTS is seeking an exceptional leader as the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Business Creation and Major Facilities. This newly created role is pivotal in driving enterprise-wide Business Creation and optimizing the use of our Major Facilities to support research, teaching, and industry partnerships.Key Responsibilities:

• Align UTS's facilities and infrastructure strategy with opportunities for commercially funded research and industry partnerships.
• Provide strategic advice on Business Creation and Major Facilities priorities to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, External Engagement and Partnerships.
• Develop and implement a Business Creation and partnership plan leveraging UTS's Major Facilities.
• Ensure good governance and effective processes for industry utilization and co-location of Major Facilities.
• Foster and leverage partnerships within the Tech Central Precinct and other precinct activities.

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

• Visionary leader with a proven track record in business development, commercial partnerships, and facility management within a university or research-intensive environment.
• Exceptional senior leadership, interpersonal skills, and the ability to drive cultural change.
• Strong business and commercial acumen.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders and deliver mutually beneficial financial outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience:

• PhD and postdoctoral research experience desirable; formal qualifications in relevant business areas highly regarded.
• Proven track record in generating external revenue through commercial relationships and navigating higher education sector challenges.
