As a leading educational establishment, we are committed to providing state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure to support our academic, professional and student community and enhance the learning environment.Primary ResponsibilityThe Chief of Staff (CoS) is a pivotal leadership role within the Office ofthe Vice Chancellor and President at Western Sydney University. This position serves as a principal advisor and aide to the Vice Chancellor and President, overseeing the coordination of all activities relevant to the Vice-Chancellor and ensuring effective communication and collaboration across various departments and stakeholders. The CoS will support strategic planning and contribute to the development and implementation of key institutional priorities.As the principal aide to the Vice Chancellor and President, you will provide valuable and insightful advice on a range of issues and strategic initiatives as well as oversee the coordination of all functions, activities, and day-to-day operations of the Office.The Chief of Staff will maintain positive relationships with:
  • The Chancellor and Board members
  • The Senior executive and leadership group of Western Sydney University
  • Chiefs of Staff, Executive Officers and key administrative staff across Divisions and Schools
  • Government agencies
  • Corporate and private sector organisations
  • Other higher education providers, including TAFE
  • Community bodies and for-purpose organisations
The CoS will:
  • Serve as a representative of the Vice-Chancellor and President, and, where appropriate, exercise decision making on delegated matters.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of all key materials prepared for the information and use of the Vice-Chancellor and President or for communication and dissemination on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and President.
  • Engage and collaborate with senior leaders on the strategic initiatives and activities of the University.
  • Provide high level executive management support for the Vice-Chancellor and President’s key commitments and representations.
  • Keep abreast of key developments both internal and external to the University and maintain strong stakeholder engagement.
About YouYou will hold relevant postgraduate qualifications and/or extensive experience in supporting senior executive leadership in a large, complex, regulated and multi-operation environment, ideally within the Higher Education sector. You will have the ability to employ critical thinking to find innovative solutions to complex issues.You will have provided high-level support in an executive setting and demonstrated a high level of interpersonal and oral communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex issues lucidly and succinctly. You will be an effective negotiator and collaborator who is able to display diplomacy in challenging circumstances.You will have demonstrated the ability to exercise judgement and initiative and maintain discretion on confidential matters.BenefitsWestern Sydney University has long been identified as a University of the people.
