Job description

About Diraq:

Diraq aims to redefine scalable quantum computing and bring practical commercial applications to the world via billions of qubits on single chips, compared to the hundreds of qubits that exist today. We are currently expanding our team to create an end-to-end quantum computing company – providing quantum hardware and software as a full stack, cloud accessible service.

Our proprietary technology, backed by 20 years of research and over USD $135M in funding across 11 patent families, allows us to scale using existing silicon CMOS manufacturing and existing foundries, to enable a faster and cheaper road to market.

We are a team of world leading scientists, engineers, and business professionals who, with our existing IP and partnerships with global technical and commercial partners, will build the quantum ecosystem of the future and enable the creation of significant economic returns across the value chain.

Since Diraq’s incorporation in May 2022, we’ve embarked on an exciting journey that will be a defining phase in our company's history. By expanding our commercial and technical team in Sydney and establishing our global presence, we're moving at speed to achieve our Phase 1 technical milestones. Our journey is more than just ambitious growth—it is the realisation of our vision, backed by the solid support of venture capital, and delivered by our remarkable team.

If you're invigorated by a rapidly evolving environment and aspire to be part of a journey that shapes the future, we warmly invite you to join us on this remarkable adventure.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated fabrication and Process engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Head of Nanofabrication and working closely with both the Quantum Measurements and Theory teams, you will be instrumental in supporting the delivery of our company’s technical roadmap. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of a pioneering quantum computing company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design and development of silicon-MOS 9-qubit systems in an academic cleanroom
  • Hands-on fabrication of silicon-MOS multi-qubit devices
  • Development and optimisation of device process flows to enhance qubit chip performance
  • Characterisation of multi-qubit devices, including cryo-electrical testing, TEM imaging, materials analysis (e.g. SIMS analysis), etc.
  • Provide regular updates regarding project status and report on device performance, variability and failures
  • Support the commercialisation of research outcomes and development of intellectual property
  • Support the Fabrication team across a range of research and development and strategic programs to achieve the company’s technical roadmap
  • Contribute to a positive team culture and foster a collaborative working environment

Qualifications & Skills:

  • PhD or Master in Electrical Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in micro/nanofabrication, preferably within semiconductor industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of semiconductors and CMOS technology.
  • In-depth knowledge of lithography technology, including direct writer, mask aligner, EBL, etc.
  • Demonstrated capability to independently design and execute experiments to develop and optimise fabrication processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information and learn quickly on the job.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and a willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
  • A demonstrated knowledge in quantum technologies is ideal, but not a necessity. The successful candidate should harbor a genuine interest in emerging technologies.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals and world experts in the quantum computing field and a distinguished senior leadership team and Board.
  • A dynamic, supportive, and innovative work environment with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Exposure and education from leading experts in the ground-breaking technologies that are shaping the future of quantum computing.
  • You will develop a deep understanding in a range of areas including the interaction of innovation and government, venture capital and corporate governance.

To apply for this position, please submit your resume (including Australian working rights) and cover letter to **@diraq.com detailing your relevant experience and interest in joining the Diraq team.

Applications received through recruiters will not be accepted.
