The Procurement Category Specialist works as a highly integrated member of the Nando’s ANZ Commercial team, analysing business spend and trends, and implementing sourcing strategies to help maximise value for the business. Specifically, for all indirect spend and some direct categories and is tasked with conducting spend reviews, leading key supplier negotiations and implementing sourcing strategies.
The value generated may come in various forms including Quality, Price, Risk Mitigation, Cost Avoidance and Changing Lives.
Specific deliverables include:
- Working closely with the Head of Procurement to define category and procurement strategies and priorities, defining and executing associated plans to deliver business benefits and stability.
- Engaging in various negotiations internally and externally to enable sourcing of various items across Direct and Indirect spend portfolio with a primary focus on Indirect spend categories.
- Assisting the Commercial team to generate Strategic Sourcing strategies in critical spend portfolio areas to determine WHAT, HOW and WHEN we should source items to maximise value for the business.
- Understanding current spend and future business requirements and driving value and savings through robust and disciplined category management.
- Analysing business trends and spending to help identify areas and opportunities to extract value across the Indirect portfolio.
- Executing appropriate contracts and agreements with key suppliers and promoting effective management of suppliers to sustain value throughout the life of the contract.
- Running RFx activities or direct negotiations with suppliers and making supply partnership decisions as a result.
- Working with IT, Finance and Operations to successfully implement projects as required.
- In conjunction with Finance, manage process and reporting for critical Commercial metrics such as:
- Value generation activities in service of business targets.
- Rebates process and governance - Maintain a database of existing supplier contracts, rebate provisions and expiry dates.
- Rebate Disclosure reporting in conjunction with legislative requirements.
- Actively lead supplier evaluation due diligence activities via initial evaluation and ongoing monitoring. Including but not limited to Modern Slavery legislation, financial stability, ethical and sustainable practices.
- Previous Procurement Category experience as a requirement, ideally within Hospitality, FMCG or Grocery.
- Strong analytical skills and advanced MS-Excel skills.
- Exemplary communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- High EQ - Great interpersonal and Communication skills to manage and develop. relationships both internally as well as externally across a broad and diverse supplier base.
- Ability to think strategically over a 3-5 year time frame.
- Ability to multi-task across multiple projects.
- Experience in a mature S&OP / Activity Management environment.

This is a full-time permanent role, based in our awesome office in Abbotsford with flexible work arrangements.
