Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our client as a Temporary Procurement Team Leader. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the Council's procurement, contract management, and related processes. This is a temporary position expected to last for six months.

Position Objectives:

  • Effectively manage Council's procurement, contract management, and related processes.
  • Provide high-level support and advice to the CEO, General Managers, Manager Financial Services, and Council business units on procurement, contract management, and related issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, business, management, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in procurement, contract management, or a related field.
  • A comprehensive understanding of and ability to interpret procurement and contract management principles.
  • Ability to lead a small team of professional staff.
  • Ability to communicate confidently with staff at all levels.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Procurement Team to ensure the effective delivery of procurement and contract management services.
  • Provide expert advice to the CEO, General Managers, Manager Financial Services, and Council business units on procurement matters.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve Council's objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Lead and contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement and contract management processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and address procurement needs.
  • Prepare and review procurement documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and apply procurement principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and management.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in using procurement software and tools.
