The Project

UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink?s delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland?s North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid. The project scope includes:

·         500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden

·         330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry

·         220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa

·         up to six new substation sites.

This exciting project will commence construction in 2024 and we are currently looking for an experienced Communications Procurement Coordinator to join the team based in Brisbane.

The Role

We?re looking for a skilled communications professional to support the Communications and Engagement, and Procurement Teams in managing relationships with the supply chain. You will help ensure the Project?s reputation and brand is supported by providing high quality communications content and liaison with suppliers and community members.

You?ll have strong written and verbal communication skills, an eye for detail, an ability to manage a diverse workload with competing deadlines, and a demonstrated ability to foster and evolve internal and external relationships. A strong competence in proactive issues management is also an advantage.

What will a day in this role look like:

  • Assist the procurement team in responding to supplier enquiries and building relationships with suppliers and community members
  • Assist in assessing data coming from the ICN market sounding process, expressions of interest and request for quotation processes
  • Proactively identifying local suppliers who are yet to register/be interested in the project
  • Assist in collating data for reporting back to our Client and for future Ministerial requests
  • Establish clear processes/procedures for the management of suppliers from ICN to Felix or back to supplier development/Powerlink
  • Support the wider Communications and Engagement Team with coordination of engagement activities and reporting of supplier liaison

  • Relevant recognized qualifications in communications, engagement or public relations with be viewed favorably.
