Product Development Chemist

A rare opportunity is being offered for a Product Development Chemist to join the Research & Development team at a well-respected and innovative formulator of detergents, sanitisers, and cleaning products. This person will be a valued member of a dynamic and creative team, which develops new products and provides technical support to both Dominant and Cafetto brands.

This dynamic role is varied and provides exposure to formulation chemistry, chemical manufacturing, quality assurance, and new Product Development, with the opportunity to develop your skills in other areas of the business.

Reporting to the Research & Development Manager you will be responsible for:

• Development of new product formulations, including liquids, powders, and tablets. Products can be for a wide range of cleaning applications, including industrial, I&I, home care, food & beverage, laundry, dishwashing, etc.
• Conducting a range of chemical analyses and tests to assess physicochemical or product performance properties.
• Research and design of new products that address real-world cleaning & sanitation problems.
• Assisting in scale-up of formulations from laboratory to production scale.
• Conducting your formulation assessments under the Global Harmonized System for classifications of chemicals
• Analysis of existing products in the market.
• Development of new industry-specific test methods.

Further requirements are:

• Tertiary qualifications in Science, preferably Chemistry, or a related degree.
• Minimum of 1-2 years demonstrated formulation experience.
• Experience within a laboratory environment.
• Excellent communication, literacy, and IT skills, in order to competently navigate laboratory and company systems.
• Ability to manage your time independently to drive projects to completion, as well as work within a collaborative team.
• Good attention to detail, as per standards expected of a professional chemist.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is desirable.
• Experience formulating cleaning / homecare products, cosmetics, or personal care products will be highly regarded.

Additional Details:

Base salary: $70,000 or negotiated based on experience
