We have an exciting opportunity to join our Process & Manufacturing Engineering (PME) team as a Product Industrialization Manager (PIM) based in Dandenong, Victoria.

Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Methods Manager, you will be directly supporting the serial production of a regional train by managing the PME industrial team. You will develop overall industrial documentation for the project, ensuring processes are defined and implemented, and will be the primary point of contact for all other core team functions working on the project.

The main purpose of the role is to manage the Process and Manufacturing Engineering team during development phase of the product and ensure production processes are designed and implemented in line with industrial requirements and QCD objectives of the project.

Collaborating with teams across the manufacturing site you will be the main Industrialization contact for the PME department within the project.

Key Responsibilities:

During specification and preliminary design phases:

  • Make sure that Industrial requirements are well understood and taken into account by Engineering, during product specification and design.
  • Analyze tooling requested and propose adequate solutions.
  • Work with Industrial Development to prepare introduction of new technologies if need be, with associated process validation plan.
  • Work with Tooling Department to build the plan for tooling and other specific manufacturing equipment.
  • Contribute to build the IMP (Industrial Management Plan) with Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
  • Build and maintain the IMFU (Industrial Maturity Follow-up).
  • Estimate Method Time and perform a preliminary line balancing.
  • Identify critical process steps where to perform detailed Process FMEA and full FAR / FAI.
  • Set up the industrialization planning including all activities: Co-engineering activities, P-FMEA, deliverables mile stones, FAR/FAI.
During detailed design phase and before Serial GO:
  • Manage the industrialization activity using IMFU.
  • Run P-FMEA meetings.
  • Ensure that industrial documentation is issued in due time with the good quality level.
  • Monitor the process Method Time vs target.
  • Perform detailed line balancing and ensure the successful completion of the task sequencings.
  • Participate to FAR and FAI activities in order to validate product design and process industrialization.
After Serial GO:
  • Manage industrialization of the retrofit after engineering changes.
  • Contribute to build continuous improvement action plan along with Production to achieve manufacturing QCD targets.
  • Contribute to industrial Return on Experience on manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure workshop layout drawings stay updated.
Other activities:
  • Contributes to industrial costing during
  • Participates to R&D programs as industrial representative.
  • Bring his expertise to the industrial Costing Manager during tender phase
  • Manage footprint transformation iniative, when running.
  • Manage Allocated time reduction program, when running.
Key Requirements:
  • Degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, mechatronics, or electrical engineering from a university accrediated under the Washington Accord.
  • Strong knowledge of Engineering and manufacturing processes and tools, IT-Systems, design documents, CAD and Supply Chain requirements.
  • Hold concern for clarity and accuracy, understands manufacturing as an internal customer and engineering as an internal supplier. Sense of urgency and drive for improvement.
  • English, read, written, spoken.
Desired Knowledge / Experience
  • Engineering background with 3 to 5 years’ experience preferably in the railway industry.
  • Technical experience of Process Engineering, writing manufacturing work instructions, line balancing, Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience in working with an ERP (such as SAP) for Bill of Materials, Routings, Configuration follow-up
  • Working knowledge in Quality, EHS standards and Ergonomics.
  • Knowledge of CAD and PLM tools (CATIA, DELMIA, AutoCAD...)
  • Familiar with IS&T common tools (Microsoft Office).
  • Process FMEA, QRQC.
