About the role:
Reporting to the Chief Winemaker and Joint CEO, the Production and Bottling Manager is an integral part of the Shaw + Smith team and undertakes the day to day Management of the bottling line. In addition, they liaison between production, distribution, tasting room and other parts of the supply chain.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Managing the bottling line, ensuring the production of 180,000+ dozen bottles per year (including contract bottling)
- Leading a team of 3 full-time direct reports and a roster of casual employees
- Acting as the key liaison between production, distribution, tasting room, and other parts of the supply chain
- Contributing to the prioritisation and scheduling of domestic/export labelling requirements
- Managing stock of all dry goods, including contract bottling
- Ensuring the database is up to date and accurate by creating and executing all paperwork related to Production and stock levels
- Undertaking regular preventative maintenance of the bottling line and coordinating with service providers for major maintenance checks
Skills and experience:
- Previous experience in a leadership role, with a strong ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor a team
- Demonstrated proficiency in forward planning and prioritisation, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Extensive experience in the wine industry, particularly in bottling operations, with a deep understanding of the production timeline and supply chain dynamics
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and resolve issues proactively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and HACCP protocols, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment
- Forklift license is essential
