Key Accountabilities
- Negotiate with host facilities to place students consistent with the demand and capacity for placement opportunities. Liaise with external host facilities to organise affiliation agreements allowing students to proceed on placements. Coordinate the scheduling of placements including the preparation and distribution of placement details to students, placement supervisors and the relevant host facility staff.
- Act as the primary contact point for SCU Ventures students as well as clinical teachers/preceptors/host facility staff in matters related to the scheduling of Professional Experience placements. Respond to enquiries from students and host facilities regarding all aspects of placements, including assisting students in the resolution of issues related to placements. Refer unresolved issues to the relevant academic staff.
- Provide administrative support to the relevant academic staff as necessary, including compilation and drafting documents such as update of student forms and host guidelines. Produce and organise the printing and distribution of materials related to placements.
- Collaborate with Unit Assessors, Clinical Teacher leaders (or equivalent), Course Coordinators and Student Services staff to ensure maintenance of academic and placement requirements.
- Provide advice to students on placement requirements, including participating in orientation sessions, information sessions and workshops.
- In consultation with relevant academic staff, provide advice to international students on all requirements they must meet prior to undertaking Professional Experience placements. Process, screen, and verify student pre-placement requirements specific to each discipline and each host facility.
- Maintain and update the placement database ensuring that each individual students’ placement history is complete in accordance with the reporting requirements of the accreditation authority.
- Provide advice and support Incident Reporting processes, ensuring compliance for students on placements.
- Review, and update as required, placement information on the Blackboard site.
- Where applicable, liaise with uniform suppliers to coordinate the uniform ordering for student placements.
- Work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop agile solutions in response to changes in environment or circumstance.
- At all times, demonstrate commitment to the University’s values of collegiality and integrity.
- Other duties as required, commensurate with the level of appointment.
- A valid Driver’s Licence, with an ability and willingness to travel between all University campuses in order to undertake duties, as required by management.
Professional Development and Currency
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities in accordance with the minimum professional development obligations as set by your manager.
- Maintain sufficient credentials, industry expertise and/or experience as required by your role or to meet the requirements of the company or relevant legislation/regulatory standards.
- Maintain and provide evidence of training or development activities upon request.
- Participate in mandatory company training activities as required such as company inductions or refresher training on the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students or other relevant legislation or standards.
