With the introduction of the new University of Sydney Enterprise Agreement 2023-26, the University has committed to establishing and advertising new continuing education-focused (EF) academic positions. The positions in this opportunity are for talented educators with a passion for and demonstrated excellence in educational practice and innovation and research capability (in disciplinary and/or education-related research). This newly recruited group of educators will support an uplift in the teaching capability and student experience at the University of Sydney.The Professor inMedia and Communications/Digital Cultures (Education Focused) dedicates the majority of their contribution to teaching and teaching-related activities (up to 70%), with a minimum of 20% research and 10% governance, service, and engagement. Additionally, they will mentor junior academics, providing advice on teaching methodologies, education research approaches, publications, and career advancement.Successful candidates will join the Sydney Horizon Educators cohort. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven history of innovation in education, which should encompass holding an Advance HE fellowship and/or a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education. Additionally, candidates should have a robust portfolio of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) publications that enhance their contributions to the digital media domain. As part of a team of experts in digital media, the candidate is expected to pursue a career focused on education, with a keen interest in advancing educational leadership.About youThe digital media program stands out for its critical perspectives on Media and communication studies within the Media and Communications Discipline. The new team member will align with a cadre of globally-recognised digital media educators, contributing to the curriculum's design, development, and delivery at both the undergraduate and postgraduate tiers.Desired criteria include:A Ph.D. in digital media or a closely related fieldA solid history of curriculum coordination and developmentProficiency in critical digital media analysis, encompassing areas like media industries, digital cultures, and platform studiesDeep knowledge of media industries and current production techniquesA strong dedication to teaching excellencePublications in pertinent academic journalsEstablished contributions to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) in Media and Communications or Digital CulturesA history of acquiring external funding for projects aimed at educational innovation and its assessmentProven experience in leading educational innovation teams within Media and CommunicationsTerm and remunerationThis is a full-time, continuing position.
