Creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally, and globally, James Cook University (JCU) is now looking to appoint a Professor, Nursing and Midwifery.  This is a full-time continuing opportunity and is based at the JCU Townsville Bebegu Yumba Campus and Townsville University Hospital in Douglas, in partnership with The Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

James Cook University (JCU) Nursing and Midwifery, working in partnership with communities, has a strong mandate to undertake Nursing and Midwifery teaching and research that makes a difference to the health and wellbeing of people in regional, rural and remote communities.  A vibrant learning culture fosters highly skilled and knowledgeable graduates. WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE 
Based at our state-of-the-art clinical teaching facilities in Townsville, you will provide outstanding academic, research and professional leadership through promoting research and scholarship within Nursing and Midwifery and enhancing collaborative relationships with industry. Playing an active role in the education and supervision of higher degree research students and support novice clinical researchers and academics you will have a regular physical presence with our close industry partners, the Townsville Hospital and Health Service, as you drive the research and capacity building agendas of the university and health service.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE 
With a PhD or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline and current registration, or eligibility, with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, you can demonstrate an internationally recognised record of scholarship and research and an understanding of nursing in rural, remote and/or tropical areas or a closely related area of nursing/midwifery. Your ability to attract grant funding and develop and maintain strategic relationships between university and industry, will see you rise to understand the key challenges for healthcare advancement as you deliver research projects and programs that address these challenges to improve health outcomes for communities and the health workforce, with a focus on translation of evidence to practice.
