About the opportunity

We seek a dynamic and experienced educator to join our team in Educational Leadership in Computer Science. This key role involves steering our educational direction and strategic planning efforts, setting educational goals, and playing a critical role in the decision-making processes that shape our educational delivery and student experience. You will be instrumental in enhancing our institution's reputation as a trailblazer in the education sector.

About you

In the role of Professor of Computer Science, you will be tasked with assuming a central role in shaping the School’s educational vision and strategic direction. This involves active participation in developing and implementing educational policies and initiatives aimed at propelling the institution to the forefront of educational excellence. Additionally, mentoring junior faculty is crucial, guiding them in effective teaching strategies, curriculum development, and career progression while fostering an environment that promotes high achievement and success in teaching, learning, and research.

Furthermore, engaging in cutting-edge research and scholarly activities is essential to advance teaching methodologies, educational technology, and pedagogical strategies, especially in the field of Computer Science. This involves initiating and evaluating the efficacy of educational innovations, overseeing and guiding research students to achieve successful results, and taking the lead in pioneering projects that elevate our educational standards.

Upholding and promoting academic rigour and leadership in program and curriculum development is key to ensuring the delivery of high-calibre teaching and learning experiences that significantly enhance student success. This role will also contribute to our governance and organisational cultures, which value diversity, collaboration, and excellence. Lastly, extending influence beyond the campus by offering expertise to public discourse and forging meaningful collaborations with governments, industries, and communities is an integral part of this role, emphasising the importance of community and professional engagement.

Professor Computing Science (Education Focused) dedicates the majority of their contribution to teaching and teaching-related activities (up to 70%), with a minimum of 20% research and 10% governance, service, and engagement. Additionally, they will mentor junior academics, providing advice on teaching methodologies, education research approaches, publications, and career advancement.

Successful candidates will join the Sydney Horizon Educators cohort. For further insights into this exciting opportunity, we invite you to watch this video.
