The Opportunity
Thiess are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join our Pembroke Resource’s project in the Bowen Basin - the Olive Downs Complex.
Pembroke Resource’s Olive Downs Complex is a greenfield project located 40 kilometres south-east of Moranbah which commenced mining operations mid-2023. Thiess has been awarded a five-year contract to deliver full service mining operations, including mine planning overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul (Autonomous), water management and rehabilitation as well as construction of the mine infrastructure.
About The Role
In this role, you will report to the Finance & Administration Manager where you will provide professional advice and support to the project regarding its financial accountability and controls whilst ensuring financial performance targets are achieved.
Working a 5/2/4/3 roster your duties will include:
Ensure timely completion of EOM deliverables and reports
Facilitate monthly cost reviews including analysis of key variances to budget
A key contributor to cost build-ups for the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
Drive financial awareness across the site and ensure financial practices are in line with company policy
Ensure financial risks are identified at an early stage
Communicating effectively with internal and external key personnel and stakeholders
About you
CPA or CA qualified (or in progress)
5 years of post-qualification experience – mining or heavy industry experience would be highly regarded
Previous JDE experience highly regarded but not essential
Proficient in MS Office, strong emphasis on Excel
Excellent time management and organisational skills with high attention to detail
Ability to work to tight deadlines and multi-task as required
Drive safety, culture, and productivity in a team environment
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence across the site
