Job description

Req ID:447143
At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 74,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.
A bit about why you might choose Alstom as your next employer:
We recognise the need for work-life balance and are continually working on our offering and introducing new polices, aimed at creating greater flexibility for everyone. Most recently, an additional day of paid leave has been added, with ME Day allowing for an extra day, to focus on our well-being. More benefits are outlined below, but the wellbeing of our people is essential, and we look forward to discussing any working arrangements required to allow you to succeed and be satisfied at Alstom.
The Opportunity
As the Buyer for Alstom, supporting the well-regarded Metronet project, you will be based out of the Bellevue manufacturing site and joining a team of engaged, passionate and supportive individuals leading this project to delivery.
This role primarily manages the vendor performance and acts as the interface between internal teams. Additional accountabilities include having ownership for the purchase to pay process, supplier selection process including the preparation and management of the Request for Quotation (RFQ) and maintaining an effective and complimentary ongoing relationship with suppliers.
Supporting the site and the C-class category (bolts, nuts, train related consumables), you will be working with a high volume of parts and allows you to maintain end to end oversight, providing a rare chance for a diligent, procurement or buyer professional to have ownership over their role and outputs, whilst still working as part of a team.
As a pivotal link between multiple teams and stakeholders, the relationship building, interpersonal, communication and influencing skills of the successful applicant for this role will be your biggest strengths.
Additionally, we are looking for you to;

  • have excellent analytical and excel skills along with an eye for detail
  • have proven experience in a similar role or undertaking similar duties (perhaps as procurement specialist, category or product buyer) where you have owned the process end to end
  • ideally working or worked in, the manufacturing industry (or similar and can demonstrate the relevancy of the industry)
  • have some working knowledge of quality and non-conformity reports
  • possess experience raising Purchase Orders and using software to generate tenders and related documentation
If you require additional information, not addressed above, I'd be happy to hear from you: gemma.cox@alstomgroup.com or 0468 601 825. Please also note, I commit to providing an outcome to all applicants as soon as a decision is reached but please note, shortlisting is an ongoing process, so it is encouraged to submit your application early.
What we can offer
  • Being an endorsed Work180 employer with a focus to support and leverage the benefits of women in our workforce
  • 18 weeks paid parental leave
  • Additional paid leave in the form of ME day - self selected day to relax, recharge and focus on your wellbeing
